Combimix design flooring graces Novahuset

Combimix design flooring contributes to the special architecture of the new business school (Handelshögskolan) in Örebro that has moved into Novahuset. The Danish architect company Juul & Frost designed the new building which consists of research and teaching facilities on four storeys for students, researchers and staff. The building also has an auditorium which is as high as the four floors together and can accommodate up to 700 people.

Combimix supplied approximately 500 tons of floor-levelling compounds to Linotol AB, which specialises in design flooring and was in charge of the installation. The turnkey contractor for the construction work was ByggTema. Linotol has, among other things, used one of Combimix’ design flooring compounds that is a pumpable, durable and a through-coloured compound that is easy to grind and polish. CM 960 usually has a dark aggregate added, but after requests for a more concrete-like finish, the black aggregate was replaced by pit-run gravel, which offered more choice for the customer. CM 960 is basically an industrial product that can withstand a lot of wear and tear. It is frost resistant and can be used outdoors in a salty environment.

Linotol is recognised as a qualified contractor, and together we were able to deliver the desired colour in accordance with the architect’s expectations. Linotol has also used Combimix’ black design flooring compound CM 920 as a marker at the start and the end of the staircase. They also used the self-levelling compounds CM 700 and CM 720 to cover areas that were carpeted for example.
