Developing and challenging the industry
The construction industry is in constant change. New technologies, new laws and new recommendations set high standards for construction companies and their suppliers. This changing world has been pushing us forward since the company was founded in 2001. That is why we develop a product range that is in line with the needs and requirements that continue to change on the market.
The pioneering spirit that is firmly established in our corporate culture is characterised by rapidly understanding the signals from the market and taking on the challenges. It is also one of the reasons why we have been able to expand into one of the leading manufacturers on the market.
Since we are a relatively small organisation, our sales staff, the development department and our production units work closely together. This means that we can make rapid decisions and develop new products just as quickly. It is also the reason why we have grown since the day the company was started.
Our product range includes products for floor levelling, modern façade plastering, traditional rendering, bricklaying, casting, concrete resurfacing and restoration mortar for cultural buildings. Combimix has approximately 50 employees with sales offices in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the United States and Asia. Our head office is located in Bålsta, just outside Stockholm. This is also where we have one of our three factories. In the United States we also have a subsidiary, Combimix Inc, that sells floor-levelling products. Combimix forms a part of the holding company Fenrirsulven, which has its headquarters in Denmark.

Strategically located factories
Today, Combimix operates a total of four factories for manufacturing its products – three in Sweden and one in Denmark. In spring 2021, our newest factory was completed, ensuring continued production and the capacity to handle increased volumes.
Our oldest and smallest production facility is located in Backamo. Next to it, we’ve built our most modern and largest factory in terms of production capacity. The third facility is situated in Bålsta, next to Combimix’s head office. It is fully enclosed, offering protection against all weather conditions. Both Backamo and Bålsta manufacture the full range of Combimix products. Our fourth factory is located in Galten, Denmark – a smaller unit specialising exclusively in the production of self-levelling compounds.
The geographical placement of our factories allows us to efficiently reach customers both within Sweden and abroad. All facilities are capable of handling high volumes, and during peak periods, we operate in shifts.
We focus on results
- We develop products tailored to meet evolving market demands.
- We always put our customers’ and end users’ results first.

From raw material to packaging
Martin has been part of Combimix since the very beginning and previously worked for many years as Production Manager in Backamo. Here, he explains how the manufacturing process works and what needs to be considered from an environmental perspective.
Combimix mainly focuses on four major product categories: masonry mortar, rendering mortar, concrete, and self-levelling compounds. The production involves many stages and begins with the purchase of raw material in the form of casting sand. This sand is dried, sieved, and sorted into six different fractions. In addition, various other raw materials such as lime and cement are procured, which are then used to build different formulas, weighing in the various qualities of the raw materials. This is done through automatic weighing systems and various types of mixing equipment that blend the ingredients according to the specific recipes. Finally, a supply system takes over for the different types of packaging, which include three lines: one for small bags, one for large sacks, and one for bulk delivery – depending on how the product is intended to be handled and where it is to be delivered.
Production from an environmental perspective
From an environmental standpoint, Combimix works to the greatest extent possible to reduce the environmental impact of its production. This is primarily achieved by preventing any form of production that does not result in a usable product, using various control systems. If surplus material is produced, it is reintroduced into the process as far as permitted by applicable regulations. Material sourcing is also kept as local as possible – especially sand, which accounts for a significant portion of Combimix’s consumption. Furthermore, Combimix has completely eliminated the use of oil for heating and drying, and today uses only gas in its plants – a change made primarily for environmental reasons.
When it comes to transport and logistics – which also have a significant environmental footprint – Combimix always aims to create an efficient transport chain wherever possible. This means that deliveries and pickups are carefully coordinated, ensuring that vehicles deliver materials to the plant and are then reloaded with outbound deliveries, avoiding empty return trips.

All our products are manufactured in the Nordic region. Not because it sounds good, but because it gives us full control over the products we manufacture and sell.
